WHAT TESTS SHOULD I GET BEFORE STARTING HIV TREATMENT?

Serum creatinine
ALT (SGPT) as a liver function evaluation
Urinalysis
Syphilis screening
Hepatitis B screening
Hepatitis C screening

In case you are already on medication and would like to continue treatment with us, please bring us your latest blood tests with you so we do not have to redo all of the tests.

WHAT OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY CD4 AND VIRAL LOAD CHECKED?

This varies from person to person. However, we suggest our patients to get them checked every 3-6 months.

THERE ARE SO MANY BRANDS OF HIV MEDICATIONS, WHICH ONE SHOULD I GO WITH?

We recommend that you visit us for a consultation and our staff can help you choose the medications according to your situation and your budget. Our HIV medication starts at 1650 THB per month. We also have the latest HIV medication which contains Tenofovir alafenamide (TAF).

I’M A TRAVELLER AND I LOST MY MEDICATION. CAN I GET MY HIV MEDICATION AT GLOVE CLINIC?

Yes, you can. However, please call our staff (+66)92 414 9254 in order to make sure that we have the medication you need in our stock. Please also bring your latest blood tests with you if you can.

Does HIV treatment cure HIV?

Standard treatment controls HIV but does not cure it. Following your treatment plan and attending monitoring visits supports long-term health. Even when your viral load becomes undetectable, do not stop treatment on your own.

Can I continue treatment after receiving care elsewhere?

Glove Clinic welcomes people seeking ongoing care. Bring recent test results, the names and doses of your medicines, and allergy information. The clinician will review the records and decide whether further tests are needed before planning continued care.

What if I lose my HIV medication or run low while travelling?

Contact the clinic before visiting with your medication details so stock can be checked. Bring a label photo, prescription or recent results if available. Do not wait until you run out or change regimens without a clinician’s assessment.

How do viral load and CD4 tests differ?

Viral load measures HIV in the blood, while CD4 testing helps assess immune function. They serve different roles in monitoring care. Your clinician decides which tests are needed and how often, based on previous results, your health and treatment plan.

Should I stop treatment if I miss a dose or have side effects?

Do not stop or change treatment on your own. Contact your clinician or pharmacist with the medicine name, last dose time and symptoms for advice specific to your regimen. Addressing problems promptly helps avoid treatment interruptions.
